Tour Highlights

1. Lunch Like a Local

Your afternoon begins at a local restaurant with a lunch of central Vietnamese food, before you ride out of town. Read more about the dishes in our Hoi An food guide.

2. Along the Thu Bon River to a Fish Market

Ride west along the banks of the Thu Bon River and stop at a small local market where fishermen sell their catch, and hear how river fishing still supports many families.

3. Rice Paddies and Farmers

Follow narrow lanes through the middle of the rice paddies, stop for photos and visit a farm to see how rice is planted – a chance to meet and chat with local farmers, with your guide translating.

4. A Rice Cracker Village

See how families make rice crackers (bánh tráng) by hand, steaming thin sheets of rice batter and drying them in the sun.

5. Across the Thu Bon River: Farms and Mat Weaving

Cross a bridge over the Thu Bon River to more rice and vegetable farms, where your guide explains what is grown through the year, and visit a family that keeps the tradition of hand-weaving mats.

6. Sunset on the Way Back

On the ride back to Hoi An you stop at a quiet spot to watch the sun go down over the fields – the best light for photos – before returning to your hotel around 17:00–17:30.

Local Expert Notes by Jimmy

  • Golden hour: sunset is around 17:15 in December and about 18:30 in June, so the sunset stop is easiest to catch in the cooler months.
  • Hot season (May–August): the early afternoon is the hottest part of the day – bring a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.
  • Wear closed shoes for the market and farm paths.
  • Weather: February to April is the most pleasant time to ride; May to August is hot, so morning and late-afternoon tours are more comfortable; from October to December heavy rain and floods are possible, and tours may be moved to another day.
  • New addresses: since 1 July 2025 Hoi An and My Son are part of Da Nang city after the merger with the former Quang Nam province, so you may see “Da Nang” on hotel and ticket addresses.
