Good to know (2026)
- Since the 1 July 2025 province mergers, Quang Nam province has joined Da Nang city, so Hoi An and My Son are now part of Da Nang. Hue has been a centrally governed city since 1 January 2025.
- September to December is the wet season in Central Vietnam, with floods mainly in October and November. Heavy rain can flood Hoi An’s riverside streets and close the Hai Van Pass road, so we keep a flexible day in autumn itineraries.
- Tet (Lunar New Year) falls on 6 February 2027. Hoi An and Hue are festive, but some restaurants and shops close for several days.
Why choose a Central Vietnam tour?
Central Vietnam is where history and beaches meet. Three UNESCO World Heritage sites lie within a few hours of Da Nang International Airport: the Complex of Hue Monuments, Hoi An Ancient Town and the Cham temple ruins of My Son Sanctuary.
Da Nang is the easy gateway, with direct flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and many Asian cities, a long sandy coastline and modern hotels. Hoi An is about 45 minutes away by road, and Hue about two and a half to three hours along the coast and over the Hai Van Pass, one of Vietnam’s most scenic drives.
The region also suits slower travel: tailor-made clothing and cooking classes in Hoi An, cycling through vegetable villages, and imperial cuisine in Hue. A private guide brings the Nguyen dynasty and Cham history to life and handles transfers, tickets and timing.

How to choose your Central Vietnam tour
1. A short stop of one or two days
If you are staying in Da Nang or Hoi An, the Da Nang City Tour 1 Day covers the Lady Buddha on Son Tra Peninsula, the Marble Mountains and the Museum of Cham Sculpture. History lovers based in Hue should take the Hue City Tour 1 Day for the Imperial City, Thien Mu Pagoda and two royal tombs.
2. Hoi An and the beach in four days
The Da Nang – Hoi An Tour 4 Days is relaxed, combining Hoi An Ancient Town, the Marble Mountains and Ba Na Hills with time for the beach or a tailor.
3. Hue, Hoi An and My Son in five days
The Da Nang – Hoi An Tour 5 Days adds Hue and the Hai Van Pass drive, and the My Son ruins, making it the best short overview of the region.
4. The full picture in a week
The Da Nang – Hue – Hoi An Tour 7 Days spends two nights in Hue and three in Hoi An, with time for Tra Que vegetable village and the Cam Thanh coconut palms.
5. Families
Hoi An is compact and walkable, and Da Nang has calm beaches from spring to summer. Ba Na Hills, with its cable car and Golden Bridge, is popular with children. We can add child seats, connecting rooms and shorter sightseeing days, and keep the hottest midday hours free for the hotel pool in summer.
Best time for a Central Vietnam tour
- February to April: mild, dry and pleasant for sightseeing in Hue and Hoi An.
- May to August: hot and sunny, the best beach season in Da Nang; plan sightseeing early and late in the day.
- September to December: the wet season, with storms and floods mainly in October and November. Tours still run, but expect rain and occasional changes.
Our Hoi An travel tips and Hue travel tips cover weather, getting around and what to wear.
What’s usually included: private or small group?
All our Central Vietnam tours are private: your own English-speaking guide and air-conditioned vehicle with driver, hotels on multi-day tours, airport transfers where listed, and the meals and sightseeing shown in each itinerary. International and domestic flights, visas, travel insurance, drinks and tips are not included unless stated. If you prefer to share costs, ask about small-group options; we will tell you honestly what is available on your dates.
Tips from our local team (Jimmy)
These notes come from years of arranging Central Vietnam tours for international travellers.
- Fly into Da Nang and out of Da Nang or Hue; it saves backtracking.
- Stay in Hoi An rather than Da Nang if you want to walk the old town in the cool evening after the day visitors leave.
- Visit My Son early in the morning, before the heat and the tour coaches.
- Cover shoulders and knees at Thien Mu Pagoda and other temples.
- In October and November, book refundable hotels and allow a spare day in case of floods.
