Tour Information & Itinerary
This private Da Nang – Hoi An tour 4 days (3 nights) covers the best of central Vietnam at an easy pace: Da Nang’s Lady Buddha, Dragon Bridge and My Khe Beach, the caves of the Marble Mountains, a guided walk and lantern evening in Hoi An Ancient Town, and a full day at Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge. Your own guide, driver and airport transfers are included.
Status (checked October 2026): the itinerary below is a sample that we tailor to your flights, pace and hotel choice. Since 1 July 2025 Hoi An and My Son belong to Da Nang city (the former Quang Nam province merged into Da Nang). October to December is the rainy season in central Vietnam: Hoi An’s riverside streets can flood for a day or two, and the Ba Na Hills cable cars may pause in storms, so we keep the plan flexible.

Is 4 Days Enough for Da Nang and Hoi An?
Yes – four days is the sweet spot for a first visit. Hoi An Ancient Town is only about 30 km (40–50 minutes) from Da Nang airport, so you lose little time on the road: one afternoon and evening in Da Nang, a day for the Marble Mountains and Hoi An, a full day in the hills at Ba Na, and a free morning on the beach before your flight.
What four days cannot do is add Hue as well. The old imperial capital is about 100 km north over the Hai Van Pass and deserves a full day, and the Cham Islands need a calm sea. If you want either, choose our 5-day version of this tour or ask us to add a day.
Tour Highlights
1. Lady Buddha, My Khe Beach and the Dragon Bridge
Your first afternoon is pure Da Nang: the 67 m Lady Buddha at Linh Ung Pagoda on the Son Tra Peninsula, a walk on My Khe Beach, and the riverside lights of the Dragon Bridge, which breathes fire and water at 21:00 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
2. Marble Mountains
The five limestone hills of the Marble Mountains are named after the five elements. On Thuy Son, the largest, a lift and stone steps lead to pagodas, sea views and the cathedral-like Huyen Khong Cave, lit by shafts of light from openings in its roof.
3. Hoi An Ancient Town
Hoi An Ancient Town was a busy trading port from the 15th to the 19th century and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1999). With your guide you visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, restored and reopened in August 2024, the Fujian Assembly Hall and an old merchant house, then stay on as the lanterns come on.
4. Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge
About 35–40 km west of Da Nang, Ba Na Hills sits at around 1,400–1,500 m. A long cable-car ride climbs through the forest to the 150 m Golden Bridge, held up by two giant stone hands, then on to the French Village and flower gardens – a cool change from the coast.
5. My Son Sanctuary (alternative day)
Prefer history to theme parks? Swap Ba Na for My Son Sanctuary, a valley of Cham Hindu tower-temples built between the 4th and 13th centuries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. It is about 45 km (1 hour) from Hoi An.
6. Countryside and beach time around Hoi An
Add a basket-boat ride in the Bay Mau coconut forest, cycle to Tra Que Vegetable Village, or spend your last morning on An Bang Beach.
Who This Tour Is For – and Who Should Choose Another
Choose this tour if you:
- are visiting central Vietnam for the first time and want the classic sights without rushing;
- want beach time as well as culture, with a hotel by the sea and two nights in Hoi An;
- are travelling as a family or with older parents – drives are short and every visit can be shortened;
- prefer a private guide and car to a shared coach tour.
Consider another option if you:
- want to see Hue’s Imperial City or the Hai Van Pass – choose the 5-day version or add a day;
- dislike crowds: Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge are busy most of the year, so ask us for My Son instead;
- are travelling in October or November and need a guaranteed beach holiday – this is the rainy, flood-prone season in Hoi An;
- only have one day – our Da Nang City Tour 1 Day covers the city highlights.
Accommodation Options
We start with one night in Da Nang near My Khe Beach, close to the airport and the Dragon Bridge, then move to Hoi An for two nights so you can walk to the old town in the evening for the lanterns. If you prefer a single base, we can keep you in Hoi An or on the Da Nang beachfront for all three nights – the touring works from both.
| Tier | Da Nang hotel (1 night) | Hoi An hotel (2 nights) |
|---|---|---|
| Superior | 3-star hotel a short walk from My Khe Beach | 3-star boutique hotel within walking or cycling distance of the old town |
| First Class | 4-star beachfront or sea-view hotel | 4-star hotel or riverside resort near the old town |
| Deluxe | 5-star beach resort | 5-star resort in Hoi An or on the nearby beach |

Local Expert Notes by Jimmy
These notes come from years of arranging central Vietnam tours for international travellers.
- Best months: February to April is mild and dry; June to August is hot but ideal for the beach. September to December brings most of the rain, and Hoi An’s riverside often floods in October and November.
- Dragon Bridge show: it runs at 21:00 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for about 15 minutes. If you arrive on a weekend, we plan your Da Nang evening around it.
- Ba Na Hills timing: go early – the cable-car queues grow from mid-morning – and bring a light jacket, as the summit is often cool and misty.
- Lanterns without the crush: the old town is most photogenic just after sunset; it is calmer early in the morning, which is when we do the guided walk where we can.
- Temple dress code: cover shoulders and knees for Linh Ung Pagoda and the Marble Mountains pagodas.
- Tailors: if you want clothes made in Hoi An, order on Day 2 so there is time for a fitting before you leave.
- Tet 2027: Lunar New Year falls on 6 February 2027; Hoi An is festive but hotels fill up early.

FAQs about the Da Nang – Hoi An Tour 4 Days
1. Is 4 days enough for Da Nang and Hoi An?
Yes, for a first visit. Four days gives you an afternoon in Da Nang, a day for the Marble Mountains and Hoi An Ancient Town, a full day at Ba Na Hills or My Son, and a free morning on the beach. Add a fifth day if you also want Hue or the Cham Islands.
2. Should I stay in Da Nang or Hoi An?
We suggest one night in Da Nang near My Khe Beach and two nights in Hoi An, so you can walk to the old town for the lanterns in the evening. If you prefer one base, either works – Hoi An is about 30 km (40–50 minutes) from Da Nang.
3. How far is Hoi An from Da Nang airport?
About 30 km, or 40–50 minutes by car. Da Nang International Airport itself is only about 3 km from Da Nang city centre.
4. Is the Hoi An Ancient Town ticket included?
Yes. The tour includes the Hoi An Ancient Town ticket, which gives foreign visitors entry to five heritage sites, such as assembly halls, old houses or museums, plus the Japanese Covered Bridge visit with your guide.
5. Is Ba Na Hills included, and is it worth it?
Yes, the Ba Na Hills cable car ticket is included on Day 3. Ba Na is worth it for the cable-car ride and the Golden Bridge views, but it is a busy resort; if you prefer history and fewer crowds, choose My Son Sanctuary instead.
6. Can I visit My Son Sanctuary instead of Ba Na Hills?
Yes. My Son, a UNESCO-listed valley of Cham Hindu temples built between the 4th and 13th centuries, is about 45 km (1 hour) from Hoi An. We visit in the morning and you have a free afternoon in Hoi An.
7. When can I see the Dragon Bridge fire and water show?
The Dragon Bridge breathes fire and water at 21:00 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus some public holidays, for about 15 minutes. Shows can be cancelled in storms.
8. What is the best time of year for this tour?
February to August is the best time, with February to April mild and June to August hot and good for the beach. September to December is the rainy season; Hoi An often floods for a day or two in October and November.
9. Is Hoi An part of Da Nang now?
Yes. Since 1 July 2025 the former Quang Nam province has merged into Da Nang city, so Hoi An and My Son Sanctuary are now within Da Nang city.
10. Is this a private tour?
Yes. You have your own English-speaking guide, driver and car, with no other travellers in your group, and we can adjust timings each day.
11. Is this tour suitable for children and older travellers?
Yes. Drives are short and walking is easy. At the Marble Mountains a lift saves the steepest steps, and the Ba Na Hills cable car does the climbing for you.
12. Can I add Hue or the Cham Islands?
Yes. Hue is a full-day trip over the Hai Van Pass, and the Cham Islands are a snorkelling day trip in the calm-sea season, roughly March to September. Our 5-day Da Nang – Hoi An tour includes Hue.
13. What should I wear and pack?
Light clothes, sun protection and comfortable shoes with grip for caves and steps. Cover shoulders and knees for pagodas, and bring a light jacket for Ba Na Hills, which is cooler than the coast.
14. How do I get a price for this tour?
Prices depend on your dates, group size and hotel category. Send your travel dates through the inquiry form on this page and we will reply with a tailored quote within 24 hours.
