Good to know (2026)
- Vietnam’s e-visa allows stays of up to 90 days, enough for even our longest itinerary; apply only through the official government portal.
- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi is closed for restoration from 4 September to 2 November 2026 (reopening 3 November) and every Monday and Friday, which affects Hanoi city days.
- Tet (Lunar New Year) falls on 6 February 2027; allow extra time for transport and expect some closures around that week.
- Our four motorbike itineraries run on fixed 2027 group dates, while all sightseeing tours start any day.
Why choose a Vietnam itinerary by duration?
Most travellers start planning with a fixed number of days. Grouping our tours by length makes it easy to see what fits: a stopover in Hanoi, a week in one region or a full north-to-south journey. Every itinerary has been planned around realistic driving times, so you spend your days sightseeing rather than sitting in a car.
Because the sightseeing tours are private, any of them can be shortened, extended or combined. Use this page to find a starting point, then let us adjust it to your dates.

Sightseeing tours are priced on request. The motorbike tours start from US$960 (6 days), US$1,280 (8 days) and US$1,920 (12 days) per rider on twin share, and the street food walk from US$23 per person for groups of 10 or more.
How to choose the right length
1. A stopover of one to three days
In Hanoi, combine the city tour with the evening Hanoi Street Food Walking Tour and one day trip to Ninh Binh or Halong Bay. In Ho Chi Minh City, add the Cao Dai and Cu Chi Tunnels day tour or a Mekong Delta day.
2. Four to five days
Explore one region in depth. The Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Halong Bay Tour 5 Days is our most popular northern itinerary; in the centre, the 4- or 5-day Da Nang – Hoi An tours suit a relaxed pace.
3. One week
The 7-day tours give each region its full picture: Sapa and Halong Bay in the north, Hue and Hoi An in the centre, or Saigon, Da Lat and Nha Trang in the south. See Vietnam highlight tours for these regional packages.
4. Ten days to three weeks
Link two or three regional tours with short domestic flights. Ten to twelve days fits the north and centre; about two weeks adds the south; three weeks allows the 7-day versions and a beach stay.
- About 10 days: Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Halong Bay (5 days) plus Da Nang – Hoi An (5 days).
- About 15 days: add the Ho Chi Minh Tour 5 Days for Saigon, Cu Chi and the Mekong Delta.
- About 21 days: the three 7-day regional tours, ending on the beach in Nha Trang.
We arrange the domestic flights and connecting transfers so each region starts smoothly.
5. Riders
Our motorbike itineraries last 6, 8 or 12 days. The Vietnam Motorcycle Tour 12 Days is the most complete, covering Mai Chau, Sapa, Ha Giang, Ban Gioc and Ba Be Lake. Browse all Vietnam motorbike tours.
Best time for your Vietnam itinerary
- February to April: the best all-round window for multi-region trips.
- October to December: ideal for the north and the south; the centre has floods mainly in October and November.
- May to August: hot, good for Central Vietnam beaches; storms can affect Halong Bay from June.
- September: golden rice in Sapa, but storm risk in the north and centre.
For the north, read our Halong Bay cruise guide.
What’s usually included: private or small group?
Sightseeing itineraries are private: your own English-speaking guide and air-conditioned vehicle with driver, hotels and cruise cabins on multi-day tours, and the meals and sightseeing listed in each itinerary. The motorbike tours are joined small groups of 6–10 riders with a riding guide and mechanic. International flights, visas, travel insurance, drinks and tips are not included unless stated.
Tips from our local team (Jimmy)
These notes come from years of arranging Vietnam itineraries for international travellers.
- Count your days on the ground, not your flight dates; arrival and departure days are rarely full sightseeing days.
- Avoid trying to see the whole country in under ten days; two regions done well beat three done in a rush.
- Keep a spare day before international flights, especially after a Halong Bay cruise in storm season.
- Mix busy and easy days: a cruise or beach day after several city days helps everyone recharge.
