Tour Information & Itinerary
The Hoi An to Hue Vespa Tour is a one-day, one-way ride of about 130 km from Hoi An to Hue (or the reverse), from around 8:00 to 16:30, on the back of a classic Vespa with an experienced driver and an English-speaking guide. On the way you stop at the Marble Mountains, cross the Hai Van Pass, follow the coast past Lang Co, swim at Elephant Springs, see the fishing villages, the elaborate tombs of An Bang “City of Ghosts” and the Tam Giang Lagoon, with lunch included. US$167 per person.
Good to know (October 2026): this is a transfer day as well as a tour – you finish at your hotel in the other city. Ask us about sending your main luggage by car. The Hai Van Pass can be closed or slow in storms and heavy rain (most likely October to December); in that case we change the route or the date. Tour code VTE-HH99.

Tour Highlights
1. Coastal Villages and the Marble Mountains
Leave Hoi An through country villages along the coast, then stop at the Marble Mountains – five marble and limestone hills named after the five elements (metal, water, wood, fire and earth), with caves, tunnels and Buddhist sanctuaries inside and a climb to a viewpoint.
2. The Hai Van Pass
The highlight of the day: about 20 km of curves over the last spur of the Truong Son range, rising to nearly 500 m at the old Hai Van Gate on the border between Da Nang and Hue. On a clear day you look down on the sea, the clouds and Lang Co Bay – the views that give the pass its name, “Ocean Cloud”. Motorbikes ride the old pass road; cars and trucks mostly use the tunnel below.
3. Lang Co and the Coast
Descend to Lang Co, a long beach and lagoon at the foot of the pass, and follow the coast road north.
4. Elephant Springs
Ride through the jungle to Elephant Springs, a series of small waterfalls and clear pools in the forest. Bring swimwear if you would like a dip; it is busy with Vietnamese families at weekends and quiet on weekdays.
5. Fishing Villages and the “City of Ghosts”
Continue through fishing villages and fish farms to An Bang, which locals call the City of Ghosts: for kilometres along the sandy road, villagers – many with relatives overseas – have built colourful, palace-like tombs for their ancestors, with dragons, lions and mosaics, while their own homes stay simple.
6. Tam Giang Lagoon and Arrival in Hue
End the day beside the Tam Giang Lagoon, part of one of the largest lagoon systems in Southeast Asia, with fishermen’s nets and stilted huts on the water, before your driver takes you to your hotel in Hue around 16:30.
Who This Tour Is For – and Who Should Choose Another
Ideal for: travellers moving between Hoi An and Hue who want to turn the journey into the most memorable day of the trip, and anyone who wants to ride the Hai Van Pass without driving.

- You have back or neck problems, are pregnant or find long rides tiring – this is a full day on a scooter.
