The Victoria Mekong Cruise downstream is an 8-day, 7-night river cruise from Siem Reap in Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam, via Phnom Penh, the Cambodia–Vietnam river border and the floating markets of the Mekong Delta. You sail on the Victoria Mekong, a 35-cabin boutique ship for up to 70 guests with a private balcony in every cabin, an infinity pool and a spa. All meals, local drinks, house wine with lunch and dinner, guided excursions and the transfers Siem Reap – Kampong Cham and Can Tho – Saigon are included. Downstream sailings leave every second Wednesday – see the departure dates, including special fares from US$3,381. You enter Vietnam by river, so check your Vietnam e-visa before you travel. If the ship cancels

  • Bad weather before departure: 100% refund. During the trip: used services are charged and the rest is refunded.

  • Itineraries can change at short notice because of river levels, weather or local conditions.

Practical Information Before You Go

  • Visas: you need a Cambodian visa (e-visa or on arrival at Siem Reap) and a Vietnam visa or e-visa. Because you enter Vietnam by river at the Vinh Xuong border gate near Tan Chau, make sure your Vietnam e-visa allows entry there – we check this with you before you apply.
  • Getting to Siem Reap: fly into Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport and spend at least one or two nights before the cruise to visit Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm – we can arrange the hotel and a guided temple tour.
  • Flights home from Saigon: the coach reaches District 1 by mid-afternoon on day 8, so choose an evening flight from Tan Son Nhat or add a night in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Passport details: we need a copy of your passport, your hotel and flight details and a contact number at least 30 days before departure.
  • Health and mobility: river banks can be steep and slippery and there is no lift or doctor on board, so the ship is not suitable for wheelchairs or guests with serious mobility problems. Travel insurance with medical cover is required.
  • Best time to go: October to March is the dry, cooler high season (December to February is the most comfortable). August to November brings high water and a lush, flooded delta; March to May is hot. Short tropical showers are common from May to October.
  • What to pack: light clothes that cover shoulders and knees for temples and the Royal Palace, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable shoes for river banks and a light jacket for air-conditioned rooms.
  • Money: extras on board are paid at the end of the cruise; US dollars are widely used in Cambodia.

  • Stay on in Saigon – add the Cu Chi Tunnels, a Saigon Vespa food tour or our Ho Chi Minh City Tour 1 Day after the cruise.

FAQs about the Victoria Mekong Downstream Cruise
1. What is the Victoria Mekong downstream cruise?

An 8-day, 7-night river cruise from Siem Reap in Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on the 35-cabin Victoria Mekong, via Phnom Penh, the Cambodia–Vietnam river border, Tan Chau, Tiger Island, Long Xuyen and Can Tho.

2. How much does the Victoria Mekong downstream cruise cost?

Victoria’s published fares start from US$4,830 per person for a Deluxe Cabin on the River Deck (November–December 2026), with special fares from US$3,381 on selected sailings. In 2027 a Deluxe Cabin costs US$5,400–US$6,500 per person and a suite US$9,000–US$10,400.

3. When does the downstream cruise depart from Siem Reap?

Every second Wednesday – for example 25 November, 9 December and 23 December 2026, and 6 January, 20 January and 17 February 2027. See the Departure Dates section for the full 2026–2027 list with fares and availability.

4. Where does the cruise start in Siem Reap?

You travel by coach from Siem Reap to Kampong Cham, where you board the ship on day 1 after lunch on the way. We confirm the hotel pick-up point and time when you book.

5. Where does the downstream cruise end?

The ship disembarks in Can Tho after breakfast on day 8. The coach then continues via Cai Be (lunch at Le Longanier) to G8 Center Hotel Saigon in District 1, arriving mid-afternoon. You can also end the cruise in Can Tho.

6. Can I take a flight from Saigon on the last day?

Yes, if it leaves in the evening – the coach reaches District 1 by mid-afternoon. To be safe, book a flight after about 19:00 or add a night in Ho Chi Minh City.

7. Do I need a Vietnam e-visa for the downstream cruise?

Yes, unless your nationality is visa-exempt. You enter Vietnam by river at the Vinh Xuong border gate near Tan Chau, so your e-visa must allow entry at that gate. You also need a Cambodian visa for the start in Siem Reap.

8. How many cabins does the Victoria Mekong have?

35: 17 Deluxe Cabins on the River Deck, 16 Deluxe Cabins on the Panorama Deck (all 25 m² with a private balcony) and two 45 m² Victoria & Mekong Suites. The ship carries a maximum of 70 guests.

9. What is included in the price?

Accommodation, meals on board and as listed, free-flow soft drinks, local beer, tea and coffee, house wine with lunch and dinner, a daily signature cocktail, guided shore excursions with entrance fees, the transfers in the program, Wi-Fi, port fees and taxes.

10. Are children allowed on the Victoria Mekong Cruise?

Children aged 6–11 pay 60% of the adult fare when sharing a cabin with two adults (one child per cabin). Children under 6 are not advised on board for safety reasons, and anyone under 18 must travel with an adult.

11. What is the single supplement?

60% on top of the per-person fare for a cabin for one.

12. What is the cancellation policy?

For 1–3 cabins: no cruise charge more than 90 days before departure, 20% from 90 to 61 days, 50% from 60 to 31 days and 100% within 30 days or for a no-show. Groups of 4 cabins or more have stricter terms.

13. Is the Victoria Mekong suitable for travellers with limited mobility?

Not really. There is no lift and river banks can be steep and slippery, so the ship cannot take wheelchairs. Guests who need help must travel with a companion who can assist them.

14. Can special diets be arranged?

Yes, on request. Tell us at booking – the ship needs at least 30 days’ notice for vegetarian, vegan, allergy or other dietary needs.

15. Is downstream or upstream better?

They visit the same places and cost the same. Downstream suits travellers who want to see Angkor first and end in Saigon; upstream suits those who want to finish at the temples of Angkor.

16. How do I book the Victoria Mekong downstream cruise?

Send us your sailing date, cabin type, number of travellers and the code VTE-VMK8D through the Tour Inquiry form or WhatsApp +84 88 626 1368. We reply within 24 hours with live availability and a confirmation.
