History of the Valley of Love

In the French colonial period the valley was a favourite strolling and courting spot, known as the Vallée d’Amour. During Emperor Bảo Đại’s time it was renamed Peace Valley (Thung lũng Hòa Bình). In 1953 the town council of Da Lat adopted the Vietnamese name Thung lũng Tình Yêu, a translation of the old French name, which remains in use today. Da Thien Lake, at the bottom of the valley, was formed after a dam was built in 1972. The site has since been developed into a large, privately operated tourist park.

What to See at the Valley of Love

1. Da Thien Lake

The lake at the heart of the valley is ringed by pines. Swan pedal boats, canoes and small motorboats can be hired at the landing.

Terraced beds of hydrangeas and other flowers cover the slopes, with romantic arches and benches. This is the most photographed area.

3. The Love Maze

4. Miniature world landmarks

Scale models of famous monuments, such as the Great Wall of China and the Colosseum, are scattered around the park as photo backdrops.

5. Cultural shows and games

A large venue hosts Central Highlands gong performances for groups, and the park has a giant chessboard, an electric train and children’s play areas.
