Tour Information & Itinerary
This private Ho Chi Minh – Mui Ne – Da Lat tour 6 days (5 nights) links southern Vietnam’s city, coast and highlands in one easy loop: a guided day in Ho Chi Minh City, Fairy Stream and the red and white sand dunes of Mui Ne, then two nights in cool, pine-covered Da Lat before a short flight back. Your own guide, driver and airport transfers are included.
Status (checked October 2026): the itinerary below is a sample that we tailor to your dates, pace and hotel choice. The Dau Giay–Lien Khuong expressway to Da Lat is still under construction, so we fly the last leg from Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City (about 50 minutes) rather than drive 6–8 hours. Notre-Dame Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh City is under restoration and can only be seen from outside.

Is 6 Days Enough for Ho Chi Minh City, Mui Ne and Da Lat?
Yes – six days is a comfortable length for this classic southern loop. Mui Ne is about 3–4 hours from Ho Chi Minh City by expressway and Da Lat another 4–5 hours by road, so each place gets at least one night, and the dunes are timed for sunset and sunrise when the light is best. Flying back from Da Lat saves a 6–8-hour drive.
What six days cannot do is include a lazy beach day. Day 3 starts before dawn and ends in Da Lat, and Mui Ne is a single night. If you would like a day by the sea, the Mekong Delta or Nha Trang’s islands as well, ask us to add a day or look at our 7-day version below.
Tour Highlights
1. Ho Chi Minh City’s Landmarks
Start with Independence Palace, where a tank crashed through the gates on 30 April 1975 to end the Vietnam War, then the War Remnants Museum, the Saigon Central Post Office and Ben Thanh Market.
2. Fairy Stream and Mui Ne Fishing Village
Fairy Stream is a shallow stream you walk barefoot, past red and white sand cliffs carved by wind and water. Nearby, Mui Ne Fishing Village fills its bay with hundreds of boats and round bamboo basket boats.
3. Red Sand Dunes at Sunset, White Sand Dunes at Sunrise
The Red Sand Dunes are free to visit and glow deep orange at dusk. Next morning, the White Sand Dunes (Bau Trang), about 30 km north-east, are Vietnam’s “little Sahara”: pale dunes around freshwater lakes.
4. Truc Lam Cable Car and Datanla Falls
A 2.3 km cable car glides over the pine forest to Truc Lam Zen Monastery, built in 1993–1994 above Tuyen Lam Lake. At Datanla Waterfall you can ride an alpine coaster down through the pines.
5. Crazy House, Xuan Huong Lake and the Night Market
The Crazy House, designed by architect Dang Viet Nga and begun in 1990, looks like a fairy-tale tree house. Xuan Huong Lake is the 25-hectare heart of the city, a short walk from the evening night market.
6. Langbiang Mountain and Dalat Railway Station
A jeep climbs Langbiang Mountain, in the UNESCO Langbiang Biosphere Reserve, to Radar Hill. Dalat Railway Station, finished in 1938, is one of Vietnam’s finest Art Deco buildings.
Who This Tour Is For – and Who Should Choose Another
Choose this tour if you:
- want variety in under a week – a big city, sand dunes by the sea and cool highland scenery;
- are travelling as a couple, on honeymoon or as a family and like gentle sightseeing with a few early starts for the best light;
- prefer a private guide and driver who can adjust the pace, rather than a fixed group bus.
Consider another option if you:
- dislike long road days – Day 2 has about 3–4 hours in the car and Day 3 about 4–5 hours on winding highland roads;
- want real beach time or island-hopping – our Ho Chi Minh – Mui Ne – Da Lat – Nha Trang tour 7 days adds two nights in Nha Trang;
- have only a day or two in the south – our Ho Chi Minh City tour 1 day or Mekong Delta day trip is a better fit.
Accommodation Options
In Ho Chi Minh City we choose hotels in or near the old District 1 (now Saigon and Ben Thanh wards); in Mui Ne, beachfront hotels or resorts along the main strip; in Da Lat, hotels within easy reach of Xuan Huong Lake. Your category is confirmed when you book.

Local Expert Notes by Jimmy
These notes come from years of arranging southern Vietnam tours for international travellers.
- Pack for two climates: Ho Chi Minh City and Mui Ne are hot all year, while Da Lat, at about 1,500 m, is mild by day and cool at night – bring a light jacket or fleece.
- Dune timing: go to the Red Sand Dunes for sunset and the White Sand Dunes at sunrise, when the sand is cool and the light is soft; by late morning the sand is hot underfoot.
- Jeeps and ATVs: only ride with licensed operators at the official White Sand Dunes area, and follow the driver’s instructions – we can help you choose on the day.
- Fairy Stream footwear: you walk barefoot in the water, so leave your shoes at the entrance or carry them; after heavy rain the water can be higher.
- Flights from Da Lat: Lien Khuong Airport is about 30 km from the centre, so we leave the city about 2 hours before departure.
- Tet 2027: Lunar New Year falls on 6 February 2027. Da Lat and Mui Ne are very busy with domestic travellers around it, so book early.
- Money: carry Vietnamese dong in small notes for sled rental, snacks and the night market; cards are accepted in most hotels and larger restaurants.

FAQs about the Ho Chi Minh – Mui Ne – Da Lat Tour 6 Days
1. Is 6 days enough for Ho Chi Minh City, Mui Ne and Da Lat?
Yes. Six days gives you a day in Ho Chi Minh City, a night by the sea in Mui Ne with its dunes and Fairy Stream, and two nights in the cool highlands of Da Lat, with a short flight back to Ho Chi Minh City at the end. Add a day if you would like a beach day in Mui Ne or more time in Da Lat.
2. How long is the drive from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne?
About 3–4 hours door to door by private car on the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay and Dau Giay–Phan Thiet expressways, a distance of roughly 200–230 km depending on your hotel.
3. How far is Mui Ne from Da Lat?
About 160 km. The drive takes about 4–5 hours through the hills, with a stop for lunch or photos on the way.
4. Why does the tour fly from Da Lat back to Ho Chi Minh City?
Da Lat is about 300 km from Ho Chi Minh City and the road takes about 6–8 hours, because the Dau Giay–Lien Khuong expressway is still under construction. A direct flight from Lien Khuong Airport (DLI) takes about 50 minutes, so flying saves most of a day. We can arrange a private car instead if you prefer to drive.
5. Is there an airport in Mui Ne?
Not yet. Phan Thiet Airport is still being built and its civil terminal is not expected to open before 2027, so travellers reach Mui Ne by road from Ho Chi Minh City.
6. Are jeep or ATV rides at the White Sand Dunes included?
No. Jeep and ATV rides are optional and paid locally to licensed operators. Entry to the dunes is included, and you can also simply walk up the dunes for the sunrise view.
7. What is the best time to do this tour?
November to April is the most reliable period: dry, sunny and breezy in Mui Ne, and clear, cool days in Da Lat. From May to October short tropical downpours are common, mostly in the afternoon, but the tour runs all year.
8. Is Da Lat cold?
Da Lat sits at about 1,500 m, so it is much cooler than Ho Chi Minh City and Mui Ne. Days are mild, but evenings and early mornings can feel chilly, especially from November to February, so pack a light jacket or fleece.
9. Is this tour suitable for children and older travellers?
Yes. Walking is easy to moderate: a barefoot stroll up Fairy Stream, short climbs on the sand dunes and gentle sightseeing in Da Lat. The alpine coaster at Datanla and the jeep rides are optional, and we can shorten any day.
10. Can I go inside Notre-Dame Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh City?
Not at present. The cathedral is under a long restoration that is expected to continue beyond 2027, so we view the exterior and visit the Saigon Central Post Office next door.
11. Can we hike to the summit of Langbiang Mountain?
The self-guided trail to the 2,167 m summit has been suspended for safety since October 2024. On this tour we take a jeep up to Radar Hill for the views; a guided summit trek is only possible with a licensed local operator, and we can ask on your behalf.
12. Is the Ho Chi Minh – Mui Ne – Da Lat tour private?
Yes. You travel with your own English-speaking guide and a private car or van with driver, so the pace, stops and start times are yours.
13. Can I add Nha Trang or the Mekong Delta?
Yes. Our 7-day tour continues from Da Lat to Nha Trang for the beach and islands, and we can add a Mekong Delta day trip from Ho Chi Minh City before or after the tour.
14. Can I finish the tour in Da Lat instead of Ho Chi Minh City?
Yes. If you are flying on to Hanoi, Da Nang or another city, we can end the tour at Lien Khuong Airport on Day 5 or Day 6 instead of returning to Ho Chi Minh City.
15. How much does the Ho Chi Minh – Mui Ne – Da Lat Tour 6 Days cost?
The price depends on your hotel category, group size and travel dates. 2026–2027 prices are being updated, so send us your dates through the inquiry form and we will reply with a tailored quote within 24 hours.
