Rong May Glass Bridge: Tickets, Views & Is It Worth It?

Rong May Glass Bridge (Cầu kính Rồng Mây, “Cloud Dragon”) is a glass skywalk at about 2,200 m on O Quy Ho Pass, roughly 17–18 km from Sapa on the Lai Chau side. A glass lift climbs about 300 m up the cliff to a U-shaped walkway projecting some 60 m into the air; tickets cost about 500,000 VND for adults.

Status (checked October 2026): open daily, about 7:00–17:30. Published prices are 500,000 VND for adults and 300,000 VND for children 1–1.4 m tall (under 1 m free), with optional adventure games at about 150,000 VND. The site is in Lai Chau province (Binh Lu commune, formerly Son Binh commune of Tam Duong district), not in Lao Cai. Views depend entirely on the weather; in thick fog you may see nothing.

Why Rong May Glass Bridge is worth seeing:

  • Glass lift up a cliff: an outdoor glass elevator rising about 300 m, part of it inside the mountain.
  • Walk on air: a U-shaped glass walkway extending about 60 m beyond the rock face.
  • Above the clouds: at about 2,200 m, it often looks down on a sea of cloud.
  • Hoang Lien Son panorama: wide views over the pass, Lai Chau valleys and, on clear days, the Fansipan range.
  • Easy add-on: on the same road as Silver Waterfall, Love Waterfall and the Tram Ton viewpoint.

Is Rong May Glass Bridge Worth Visiting?

Worth it on a clear day if you enjoy heights and do not mind the price. The lift ride and the walk out over the void are a genuine thrill, and the views over O Quy Ho Pass can be outstanding. On a foggy day, though, you pay a high ticket to stand in a cloud, while the free Tram Ton Pass viewpoint nearby gives a similar panorama.

  • Best for: thrill-seekers, couples, families with older children, Instagram-minded travellers.
  • Skip if: you fear heights, are on a tight budget, or the forecast is thick fog.
  • Short on time: combine it with Silver Waterfall in a 3-hour round trip from Sapa.

About Rong May Glass Bridge

Name and opening

“Rồng Mây” means “Cloud Dragon”, a nod to the clouds that drift through the pass. The eco-tourism site was developed by Hoang Lien Son Group Joint Stock Company and opened its first phase to visitors in November 2019, when it was promoted as Vietnam’s highest glass bridge.

How the bridge was built

Builders cut a tunnel into the mountain and installed an outdoor glass elevator about 300 m tall, roughly 80 m of which runs inside the rock. At the top, a U-shaped walkway of multi-layer tempered glass projects about 60 m out from the limestone cliff.

Safety and inspections

In February 2022 a cracked panel shown on social media led Lai Chau’s culture and construction departments to inspect the bridge and order its replacement; the operator said the panels are laminated in three layers and the top layer had been cracked deliberately as a visual effect. Visitor numbers are controlled on the walkway and soft shoe covers are provided.

What to See at Rong May Glass Bridge

1. The glass elevator

From the entrance a tunnel leads to the lift, which climbs the cliff in about a minute and a half, giving widening views with every metre.

2. The U-shaped skywalk

The main attraction: walk out on clear glass about 60 m beyond the rock with hundreds of metres of air below you.

3. Sea of clouds

On many mornings, clouds sit below the bridge level, so the walkway seems to float above them.

4. Views of O Quy Ho Pass

Look down on the hairpin bends of National Highway 4D winding towards Lai Chau, the best overview of the O Quy Ho Pass road.

5. Adventure games

Optional extras such as a zipline, sky bike, giant swing and log bridge cost about 150,000 VND per game.

6. Photo platforms and café areas

Viewing decks around the site offer safer photo angles for those who prefer solid ground.

  • Decide on the day: if your driver or hotel reports thick fog on the pass, save the money.
  • Wear warm layers; the bridge is several degrees colder than Sapa and exposed to wind.
  • Go early to avoid tour-group queues for the lift, especially on weekends and holidays.
  • If heights bother you, the free Heaven’s Gate viewpoint gives a similar view from solid ground.
  • Pair the bridge with a morning Fansipan ride only if the weather is clear for both; each is expensive in fog.
